Guilford Technical Community College
Welcome to our Kraken Summer of Fun! at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) on E. Wendover Ave. This year we will have 5 weeks of exciting summer camps designed for girls and boys ages 8-17.
The summer camp is coordinated by GTCC Mechatronics Engineering Technology Program and E3 Robotics a pipeline program created by Adrian Wright and Maria Rosato.
E3 Robotics wants to EXCITE children to the diverse areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Our goal is to EDUCATE children in a fun and hands on atmosphere. Finally, we want to ENCOURAGE children to believe in themselves and all that they are able to accomplish.
Mechatronics is a combination of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, information technology and intelligent systems utilized in the design of products and computer integrated automation systems. Mechatronics is one of the 10 emerging technologies slated to transform the world. The US Department of Labor lists mechatronics as an emerging “green jobs” growth area. And, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for Mechatronics is bright all the way through 2020.
The children will learn about the diverse field of Mechatronics Engineering through hands on investigations in robotics, using LEGO© EV3 system, Vex IQ system, Seaperch Underwater Robotics, Vex Robotics. They will also have an opportunity to learn about electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer systems through fun, creative and hands on projects.
Kraken Summer of Fun! offers five half-days of activities for children in elementary through high school grades. Please select camps by your child’s age at the time the camp is being held. Spaces are limited. Registration is online.
